So if it is a thread devoted to english language, I better write my post in English
Or rather: I'll try to
I am not a specialist of English but I am a language -freak as you could realise during my activity on this forum and I love to learn foreign languages a lot. I am actually fluent in 2 of them (German and Russian) and lately I decided to brush my English up. I have been learning this language for 3 years in a high school but I used to hate my English teacher, she was an awful person and I was not keen on learning English. Then after my matura exames I realised how important English is. In fact I knew about it earlier, but I am very stubborn and I do not like being forced to do something. I always must realize some things by myself. But when I gathered it, I started learning English like crazy. Maybe I am not a whizzkid but I think I am a little bit talented in this area so after few months I am able to communicate in English quite well. But I know that the difference between my English and my German is vast. Vaaaaaast.... No wonder, I have been learning English for 3 months seriously and German - 8 years including a half-year stay in Magdeburg. It is a completly different level. However I want to improve my English during my Holidays so in October when I start studying at the University of Warsaw I can find someone studying English at the University and we may teach each other foreign languages (I will study German and Russian at the Linguistic faculty).
What I like most in foreign languages in generall is speaking. I do not have any problems with pronanciation, I love trying new sounds with my tongue
It is amazing
I prefer speaking to writing, especially in English cause the spelling is very difficult
In German it is not.
For the first time I was encouraged to speaking English being in Malta. It was the only way to communicate with people
I neevr had such situation before.... But it was ok, I was satisfied with my English skills I never had any problems with expressing myself and people used to understand me in general
I know I have to work on my English a lot and I know I maybe never reach the level of my German skills. Nevertheless I will aim at improving my English. I find this language quite interesting and not very complicated.
Now maybe some tips of learning languages of me:
www.ang.pl - check it out. I guess it is the best place for language - lerners on teh polish Internet. Not only English
Ways of learning languages: Do read orginal texts. Books, newspapers, magasines, English wikipedia, everything, even if you are not very advanced. The contact with "native English" is more valuable than any workbook.
Listening: Listen to songs in English, try to understand them, listen to films without dubbing. Try to follow the action. Listenings on CDs from workbooks - it is a bullshit. Good only at the begining. Then when you become advanced and you only listen to these records or to your English teacher who has a polish accent you will never understand "English in use" well
Speaking = speak a foreing language if you have a opportunity. Do not be shy. If someone encourage you speaking English - do not resiste, it helps really! I myself like speaking foreign languages loud when I am alone at home
I know nobody is listening too but it is also a great for of excersise
So I think that is all for today
Sorry for all my mistakes, there were planty of them probably and if someone is a specialist and has got a while of free time - pleas do proofread my post!
